Day Six
Well, I flaked out and decided not to go over to the School of Public Health this morning. I called Richmond at 9 am to tell him that I was supposed to have a chat via Skype with my adviser, Michelle. Because the internet is down at school I thought it would be better if I stuck close to the hostel so that I could use the hotel internet next door. Now I’ve paid $3.50 for a two-hour spell of internet usage and I find out the internet’s not even working! Eeeehhh…
I have a lunch date today with Hannah Taylor, one of the Ghanaian women that I T.A.’ed a few weeks ago at the Gates Summer Institute (the same place I met Richmond last year). She’s coming in to Legon to meet me because she has a car, which is really sweet of her. She’s also volunteered to take me out to Ga East next week—the actual district where the data was collected and where I hope to spend some time at the end of the month doing my own data collection.
Hannah showed up at 2:50pm for lunch. I am still not used to this European-eating schedule. My inner fat-kid was ravenous, but I played it cool when she asked if I had been postponing lunch long ☺
